CTD 319 Textile Design
Using the latest computerized design systems, students create original designs, repeats, colorways, and coordinates targeting specific markets. Emphasis is on the creative use of advanced software, awareness of industry trends and the development of an original portfolio of digitally produced designs.
CTD 320 Visual Merchandising
Introduces contemporary display techniques, equipment, and materials for designing three-dimensional product presentations within the retail environment. Using advanced computer software, students create and execute original visual programs and storewide promotions. Two lectures, one laboratory.
CTD 340 Portfolio Development
A professional design portfolio, for both print and web, comprised of work that best demonstrates creative and technical abilities will be developed in this course. Students will also create a print stationery campaign and resume.
CTD 498/499 Research/Project in The Fashion Archive
This course provides undergraduate students with opportunities for active engagement in original research or scholarly creative scholarship where the student makes an original, intellectual, technical, or creative contribution to the discipline or practice of museum studies.
CTD 498/499 Object-based Research Fashion
This course begins with a practical examination of the object(s) from The Fashion Archive and, using material culture theories and methodologies, the student will explore the social, cultural, and economic zeitgeist of the object(s) specific time period.
It also introduces undergraduate students to the various modes of academic and museum-based research and practices in the study of fashion to gain a broader understanding of its valuable role in past and present studies.
